Post all the rave reviews you can find about this movie here. A "Wisegirls" review from Attitude Magazine: Wise Girls: Little gem waiting to be discoveredLet's get straight to the point: can Mariah Carey act? Well, not that you'd ever have guessed it from the on-screen abortion that was "Glitter", but yes she can. Supporting Oscar-winning Mira Sorvino is quite a tall order, but as tough-talkin' Italian-American waitress Raychel in "Wise Girls", she is charming, charismatic, indeed a born star. Shame this highly watchable, if flawed comedy/thriller, went straight to cable in the "Glitter" aftermath, as there's great performances in this tale of three New Jersey waitresses who get caught over their heads in mob business. Even if the sudden switches from all-girls-together comedy to blood-drencehd mafia thriller often jolt, this is a little gem waiting to be discovered.Source: Attitude Magazine | Matte | Mariah Daily

Here are more highligting mostly the nice reviews of Mariah's acting in this movie. ;D San Francisco Examiner: I never saw "Glitter," so I can't attest to Carey's performance in it. But in "Wisegirls," she plays a trashy, not-too-bright bowery girl with big hair and big nails and says "you guys" a lot in her whiny accent. And she sells it. She even holds her own against the considerably more talented (and Oscar-winning) Sorvino.Read more here! San Francisco Chronicle:"...it's Mariah Carey, in the supporting role as a fellow waitress, who's guaranteed to be the focus of audience curiosity. When Carey starred in "Glitter," audiences all but burned her at the stake (and for reasons I'll never understand -- she was amateurish, sure, but why the hostility?). But in "Wisegirls," free of having to carry the whole movie, and playing a sassy (instead of sappy) homegirl, Carey is just perfect. Just technically speaking, she does the best Staten Island accent I've ever heard in a movie, as in she could have fooled me, and I grew up there."Read more here Fox News ChannelCarey looks relaxed and comfortable as she plays a savvy waitress in an upscale Staten Island mob joint. Even though she tends to wear skimpy outfits as usual, her line delivery is sharp and she manages to get the right laughs. She shows good comedic timing in places where you wouldn't expect her to get it right.Read more here... Hollywood Reporter But who knew about Carey? Those scathing notices for "Glitter" will be a forgotten memory for the singer once people warm up to Raychel. She's a don't-mess-with-me woman who develops a joyous sense of family in friendship with her fellow waitresses.Read more here... Box Office Magazine Carey, on the other hand, is fun to watch, pulling off saucy better than her sweet role in “Glitter.” TheCritics.org In a perfect world, however, we would assess the film solely on the basis of the performances, and on that level, Carey and company distinguish themselves admirably. Carey plays a tough-talking, foul-mouthed waitress for a mob-run and mob-frequented restaurant. One of the film's opening scenes sets the stage for Mariah's involvement in the storyline, as she puts a ruthless tough-guy in his place, embarrassing him in front of an entire restaurant of customers.Read more here Natural Born Viewers (not sure what this is): Mariah, however, is the standout. She brings a toughness that J. "from the block" Lo only wishes she had. She feels a lot more natural than in her unofficial biography “Glitter.” This just goes to prove that when she’s acting and cussing up a storm, she’s interesting... and when she’s herself, she’s terrible.Read more here... Modamag.com (not sure what this is either): The biggest surprise in this film is actually Mariah Carey. Forget what you've heard about her because the woman can act!...Again, Mariah Carey was an absolute standout and I'm really looking forward to seeing what else she decides to take on in Hollywood. If anybody doubts that she has talent, they need to check out "Wise Girls."Read more here... Macresarf1 Epinions (again, not sure what it is): Mariah Carey, surprisingly effective, seizes her role as mobgirl/waitress with a brassy sense of command, pulling her weight among more experienced players.Read more here **That last review had a very interesting fact in it. Here is the commment... Yet, presumably because of the disaster of Miss Carey's ill-advised debut as a pop diva (of all things) in last year's GLITTER, Lion's Gate Films lost its nerve and sent WISEgirls directly to video. Luckily for me and a few thousand other moviegoers, San Francisco's indie -loving Roxie Theater Corporation rescued it for a theatrical showing this last week (and I'm glad to report, has extended its run for at least another seven days, by popular demand). ***All WG reviews sources from IMDB site - Wisegirls
